In the Grand Prairie, agriculture is part of everyday life. It shapes family legacies, strengthens local businesses and gives our communities a shared sense of pride.
We are known around the world for rice production, and the people behind that work help feed families well beyond Arkansas. I see that impact in the farmers I work with every day, and it’s why Huntington Bank wants to be part of their journey, helping families plan, grow and carry their operations forward for the next generation.
For me, this work is a source of pride and a real privilege. I love sitting across from farmers and hearing what they are building, from the next crop and the next equipment investment to the future of their families, their operations and the communities they care so deeply about.
These conversations matter because farming is often a family effort. Each family member has a role, and the work becomes part of the family’s reputation, pride and history.
I’ve worked with multiple generations of farming families and have been there to celebrate the important milestones, weather difficult seasons and prepare transitions. Being involved in that planning is an honor, and it motivates me to show up every day ready to listen, learn and help.
I’ve also learned that successful farm families tend to share three qualities. First is vision. Everyone involved in the operation understands the long-term goals for the land, the operation and the family. Second is embracing change. Successful families invest in new technology, diversify revenue when it makes sense and adjust their farming practices to meet current conditions. Third is reinvestment. They’re thinking about the next crop and they’re thinking about the next generation. During stronger years, they put resources back into the operation, so they are better prepared for future seasons and long-term growth.
That future-looking mindset matters in today’s environment. Farmers are managing market uncertainty, rising costs, weather challenges, changing economic conditions and many other things outside of their control. Yet they continue doing what they’ve always done: adapting, planning ahead and providing for their families and communities.
That’s one of the reasons I have so much respect for the people who work in agriculture, and why having people who understand their work matters. A trusted lender, advisor, supplier or neighbor who understands the realities of agriculture can make a meaningful difference at the right moment.
At Huntington, we’re committed to being one of those trusted partners and part of the journey. We understand that agriculture requires specialized knowledge and local relationships. Our role is to build relationships that last, understand each family’s goals, think through long-term plans and future transitions, manage financial decisions and identify opportunities for continued growth.
This can include cash flow planning, transition planning for the next generation, market insights, risk management, guidance on government policies and crop insurance implications, technology investments, educational resources and support during challenging periods.
Just as important, we believe in investing in the communities our agricultural customers call home. We are proud to sponsor 4-H, FFA, local school districts and other local farm groups.
That is the kind of partnership Huntington brings to agriculture: local, practical and built around the needs of each family and operation. We know the strength of this region is tied closely to the people who farm it, and we are committed to standing beside them as they plan, adapt and grow.
