George Albert Branham, better known as George, Pop, and Poppy, aged 86, of Des Arc, AR, passed away peacefully at his home on March 22, 2026.  George was born on June 22, 1939, in Des Arc, to B.W. Branham and Kathryn Lucille (Walters) Branham.

He was a lifelong resident of Des Arc, where he grew up with his brothers, Dub and Pete Branham, and sisters, Louise Turner and Mary Kathryn Kirk.  George devoted his life to his family and his community. He was a loving husband to Clara Mae (Nannie) Branham for 65 years. Their enduring love story was an inspiration to all who knew them.

In addition to his beloved wife, George is survived by his son, Clay Branham (Jessica) of Conway, and his daughter, Donita McDonald (Jim) of Des Arc. George was a proud grandfather to Chris (Danielle) McDonald, Ava and Ella Branham, Nick and LaBeth Polk, and a great-grandfather to Kaylee, Mollee, Emmee, Reed McDonald, Bailey Robison, Palmer Polk, Kaleb Pierce, and sister Mary Kay (Cletus) Kirk.

George attended Des Arc Schools. He made his way in farming an was employed with Floyd Calhoun and Sons Farm. He was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, and going on countless afternoon joy rides with his wife and their dog, Lizzie.   A devout Christian, George was a member of the First Baptist Church of Des Arc, where he served as a church deacon for 15 years. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life. George was also a retired member of the Des Arc Volunteer Fire Department, where his courage and dedication to his community were evident to all.

George was preceded in death by his father, B.W. Branham, his mother, Kathryn Lucille Walters, his brothers, Dub and Pete Branham, and his sister, Louise Turner.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those he served.  George, Pop, Poppy, you will be missed, but your spirit will forever remain in our hearts. We take solace in knowing that you are now in a better place.
