The Des Arc School Board met on Thursday, February 26 and approved renewing contracts for High School Principal B.J. Paschal and Elementary Principal Stacy Childers.

Superintendent Dr. Marc Sherrell’s contract was also renewed at the January meeting. The board congratulated Sherrell for being elected Superintendent of the Year by the district’s coop.

Sherrell reported the current enrollment for Pre-K through 12th grade as 663. He presented school choice applications for two from Carlisle, four from Hazen, three from Cabot, and one from Dewitt. All applications were approved.

Paschal reported that the PEP club had donated $15,000 for picnic tables.

Upcoming dates for Des Arc High School are: Prom on April 11th; Academic Banquet April 30th; Band Banquet May 4th; and the Athletic Banquet May 5th.

A motion was approved to hire Stephanie Lynn as a long-term substitute for 2nd grade and the board approved $1.2 million for new turf at the football field.
