The Prairie County Fair will take place later this month with livestock competitions, exhibits, a parade and demolition derby.

Most activities will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, through Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Prairie County Fairgrounds on Arkansas 249 between Hazen and Des Arc.

The Prairie County Fair Board is promoting this year’s event with the theme “250 Years of Freedom & Family Tradition.”

One week before the fair begins, the Prairie County Fair Queen Pageant will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at the DeValls Bluff Community Center.

Fair week will begin with a parade in Des Arc on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 5:30 p.m., traveling from GreenPoint Ag to Des Arc Park.

Young people from across the county will be able to show animals they have raised and cared for.

Livestock divisions include poultry, rabbits, goats, cattle and horses. Other activities will include BB and bow shoots, an antique car and tractor show, gospel music and activities geared toward senior citizens and preschool children.

The fair will conclude Saturday, Sept. 26, with the demolition derby. Arena gates will open at 5 p.m., with the derby beginning at 7 p.m.
