Des Arc won a pitchers’ duel against Carlisle on Friday, 2-1 in eight innings.

Des Arc pitcher Kaylee McDonald gave up only one run in eight innings of work. She struck out 17 Carlisle batters. Carlisle’s combo of Tessa Sanders and Lindley Lenderman combined for two runs on four hits. They struck out six combined.

The game was scoreless through seven innings. Des Arc’s Mollee McDonald started the eighth inning at second base. Reagan Kittler led off the inning with a walk. McDonald went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Paycen Seely. Kittler also advanced to second. Two batters later, Allison Collins doubled, driving in McDonald and Kittler with the first two runs of the inning.

Lenderman started the bottom of the eighth for Carlisle. She went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Kiersten Taylor. Lenderman scored on a triple by MaeCee Motton. Kaylee McDonald then struck out the final two Carlisle batters to end the game.

Collins led Des Arc with two hits in four at-bats. She had both RBIs. Also getting hits were Seely and Layla Gardner.

Carlisle finished with four hits — one each by Taylor, Motton, Chloe Smith and Lenderman.

Carlisle and Des Arc both played in a tournament at Heber Springs on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles beat Mt. Vernon-Enola 3-0 in the first round then lost to Bald Knob 8-0 and Quitman 2-0.

Carlisle lost to West Side Greers Ferry 7-2 then beat Concord 7-2. They lost to MVE 5-4 in their third game.
