The Hazen Hornets opened the 2026 baseball season last week, going 0-2 in their first two games.
Hazen lost to Palestine-Wheatley 15-0 on March 9. That game was also the conference opener. The Hornets then lost to White County Central 11-1 on Thursday.
In the loss to Palestine-Wheatley, the Hornets were no-hit for three innings.
The Patriots scored two in the first, 11 in the second and two in the third to end the game after three innings.
The Hornets had two runners reach base. Peyton Anderson and Cameron Smith both earned bases on balls.
In the 11-1 loss to White County Central, Hazen trailed 3-0 when it scored its first run of the season in the top of the third.
With one out, Jase Arnett was hit by a pitch. Arnett stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. He scored on a ground out by Ethan Lisko.
The Bears scored five in the fourth and three in the fifth to end the game after five innings.
The Hornets had only one hit — a single by Luke Snider, who also reached on a walk. Trever Fulmer also walked.
Only seven of White County Central’s runs were earned.
