The Carlisle Bison opened conference play with a 4-3 win over Des Arc on Friday at Rockefeller Park.
With the win, the Bison improve to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in league play. Des Arc is 0-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Carlisle led 1-0 after one inning. Tyler Thrift grounded into a fielder’s choice and eventually scored on a single by Cole Averitt.
Des Arc came back with two runs in the top of the second to lead 2-1. With two outs, Eastyn Estes walked. Jett Burton then reached on an error. They both scored on an error.
The Bison reclaimed the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Lane Bowl singled to drive in Fisher Thaxton. Daniel Ford scored on a single by Michael Spingola.
Des Arc scored a single run in the top of the seventh. With two outs, Case Bell walked with the bases loaded, forcing in Burton. Spingola got the final batter to fly out with the bases loaded, giving the Bison the victory.
Thrift got the win. He gave up only one earned run in 6 1/3 innings of work. He struck out nine.
The Bison finished with five hits. Spingola had two. Bowlan, Averitt and Hayden Hale each had one hit.
Des Arc finished with four hits — one each by Brayden Knupp, Luke McIntosh, Hudson Goodman and Burton.
