The Des Arc Chamber of Commerce met on February 16th. Due to the basketball tournament, only a few were present but it was a productive meeting. Current board members Rita Dobson and Janice Reidhar were present, as well as Heath and Stacy Jarrett and Rick Dobson.
Rita Dobson said that if an Independence Day celebration was going to happen plans need to start being made now. She said that several previous vendors and participants have already contacted her wanting to participate. She said she has also contacted John Guess to get a price to rent his bouncy houses. Reidhar asked if anyone knew about any kind of boat races which might be a good attraction. She is going to research that. Stacy Jarrett said she had a friend with a food truck that she would contact. Rick Dobson suggested forming a group to head up this and future events.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the next meeting on March 9th at 6:00pm at the Methodist Church. Bring any ideas or contact information for vendors and participants for the Independence Day Celebration.
This year’s Independence Day is especially special because it is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
