Beth Plafcan has been hired as Economic Development Coordinator and Administrative Assistant for the city of Carlisle at its January 22, 2026 meeting. Plafcan has worked for the city in this capacity in the past and is certified in community development. Her responsibilities will include finding grants and keeping the website current among other things.
Chris Lacy, a candidate for Lonoke Co. Circuit Judge, introduced himself and gave a few remarks about his candidacy.
Debbie Madar and the Christmas Ladies thanked the city crew and David Walters along with Marvin Reid, Sammy Lee and Robert Nichols for their help in taking down the Christmas decorations. It was done in two days, which was record-setting.
The Parks and Recreation department thanked the following youth basketball coaches: Austin Hayes, Chris Davidson, Deron Ricks, Gary Raper, Heath Hawkins, Jake Cotner, Andrew Silverman, Jay Holland and Heath Walker. Thanks was also shared with Anne Anderson and Rachel Stivers for manning the concession stand at the City Park gym during those basketball games.
The scoreboard at the City Park gym has been fixed and a drink cooler has been purchased to use there. Also, a portable pitcher’s mound will be purchased for City Park which will allow
different mound distances for different ages. This will allow different ages to play baseball on the same night.
A city-wide meeting is planned for February to get input on what should be included in a FUN Park grant. Also, Leo Orton was recognized for 30 years of service on the Carlisle Fire Department.
Resolution No. 380 providing for the adoption of a budget for the City of Carlisle for the 12 months beginning January l, 2026, and ending December 31, 2026, appropriating money for each item of expenditure therein provided for; and for other purposes passed by a vote of four yes votes and two no votes.
